Willo Flood makes Celtic move

Willo Flood last night spoke of his delight at Celtic finally moving to seal his capture after the Parkhead club stepped up their push to add fresh talent before the transfer deadline.

The 23-year-old midfielder had been critical of the slow progress of his proposed switch after missing the decisive penalty for Dundee United in Wednesday night’s epic shoot-out that sent Celtic into the Co-operative Insurance Cup Final.

Yesterday afternoon, however, he travelled to Glasgow for a three-hour medical at Ross Hall hospital and is set to agree terms worth around £8,500-per-week.

Celtic are believed to have effectively landed him for free, with Cardiff City happy to clear the remaining six months of his wages from their books. Flood had been on loan at United from Cardiff for the past 18 months and discussions were continuing last night to finalise his release from that agreement — and decide his availability for weekend fixtures.
