Keane scores in LA Galaxy debut

Robbie Keane marked his Los Angeles Galaxy debut with a goal as his new side defeated San Jose Earthquakes 2-0 at the Home Depot Centre.

Ireland international Keane became one of the hottest properties in Major League Soccer when he swapped Tottenham for Galaxy and showed what he can do but breaking the deadlock after 21 minutes.

Mike Magee, who replaced him 18 minutes from time, added the second for the Western conference leaders, while Steven Beitashour saw red for the Earthquakes.

"We're elated with Robbie," Galaxy Coach Bruce Arena said. "He had a great 70 minutes tonight and we think there's a lot of great games ahead for Robbie and our team."

Speaking after the game Keane said "It couldn't have gone better for me. That was quite a reception and it's an experience I'm relishing."
